About Us

More Information

The Excel Languages Center (LC) is one of four Excel Centers at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) and is part of the Academic Affairs Division. Located in Dwire Hall 270, we provide a welcoming and dynamic space for all UCCS students, faculty, staff, and community members who are passionate about language learning and cultural exchange.

At the LC, you don’t have to be enrolled in a language course to take advantage of our resources. While we offer specialized support for students in UCCS language courses, we welcome all language learners, including independent learners and community members. Whether you're looking for tutoring, conversation practice, or a place to study and connect, you’re encouraged to drop in—and bring a friend along to practice your target language.

As the hub for UCCS’s language learning community, the Excel Languages Center is a space where languages come to life. On any given day, you might find a Japanese conversation table discussing favorite foods, students engaging in Spanish conversation practice, or a lively game of mahjong, all while foreign films play in the background.

The Excel Languages Center is a dedicated space for language learning, support, and growth. It serves as a resource for students at all stages of language acquisition, whether just beginning or refining existing skills.

Currently, tutoring and conversation tables are available for American Sign Language (ASL), French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish. However, language learning extends far beyond these offerings, and students with an interest in other languages are always welcome.

The center provides an environment for exploration, offering a variety of resources such as films, books, and cultural materials to support self-study. Student interest and engagement play a crucial role in shaping future offerings. Those seeking support in a language not currently covered are encouraged to share their needs, as this helps build the case for expanding tutoring services as demand grows.

The Excel Languages Center continues to evolve to better serve the language-learning community. Stop by, explore, and connect with resources that support language learning and cultural engagement.
