Become a Tutor

The Excel Languages Center (LC) hires UCCS students to serve as language tutors, supporting learners in ASL, French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish.

Tutor positions are open to currently enrolled UCCS students and are posted through the Student Employment Assistance Network (SEAN), the campus job platform for hourly and work-study positions. If you are interested in tutoring or would like to learn more, please contact our Director, Dr. Jesse Perez, at jperez@uccs.edu.

Peer tutors play a key role in supporting students’ language development through one-on-one tutoring, Conversation Tables, and resource support. They work with both students enrolled in language courses and independent learners to build skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Tutors help create an inclusive and communicative learning environment and collaborate with faculty to support course goals. They also contribute to outreach, maintain center resources, and guide students in using language learning tools.

Overall, tutors help create a welcoming, accessible space in the Excel Languages Center for all learners.
